Health Care Dimensions Hospice
November 25, 2003
Dear True Story Theater Troupe,
A single thank you from me could not express our hospice's feelings about your offering to our hospice volunteers and staff. Here are words from members of our group.
With deepest gratitude,
Wendy R. Jenner, RN CHPN
Volunteer Coordinator, Health Care Dimensions Hospice
"True Story" is the perfect name...
"True Story" is the perfect name for you. You got to the heart of my/our story. The healing and validation that comes from your work is remarkable.
Mostly, we work in the homes of our patients, in isolation from the rest of the team. Volunteers often tellme about feeling isolated, perhaps because they are not physically with the team in meetings and around the office like the staff. By experiencing our stories through your troupe, that isolation is broken. I had a deep sense of how shared our whole human experience is!
Thank you seems too small a way to express my appreciation.
-Wendy Jenner (RN and Volunteer Coordinator)
Your ability to recognize and dramatically reproduce our fundamental
experiences was stunning. Even though none of the stories you told was explicitly
mine, I felt a profound sense of sharing in each of them.
-Jean Moses (Volunteer)
True Story was very sensitive about the nature of our work; their clinical/professional
backgrounds and simply their kindness was apparent. I believe that there
was a content assessment done on each story that focuses the information
for the players. It's very systematic and effective.
-Steve Weinograd (Volunteer)
Your gifts ... of heartfelt listening
Your gifts of talent, of heart-felt listening & improvisational
interpretations, remind us of the impact we make as hospice volunteers.
-KC Howe (Volunteer)
You brought what I do in my hospice work into a whole new light. It was
so moving to see a dramatization of my experience, highlighting all the
varied emotions.
-Mary Vic Wallis, RN
I found the experience not only impressive and entertaining,
but it accessed feelings deep within me. I am most appreciative.
-Judy Fitzsimmons (Volunteer)
The performance was magical — somehow you made tangible and palpable
all of the seemingly intangible emotions we share... As you came together
in the end, you could almost see the color of the spirit in the air. Thank
you for validating this commitment and connection we all share!
-Gretchen Flack (Volunteer)
