1) What attracts you to True Story Theater and to playback theatre?
2) Tell us about your experience with the four disciplines we use in Playback.
a. Acting/improvisation
b. Movement/dance
c. Voice/singing
d. Musical instruments
3) Essential qualities for Playback practitioners include keen listening, self-awareness, and compassion. Please tell us a bit about how you have developed these traits in your life (e.g. through personal growth work, spiritual practice, communication training, relationships…)
4) Teamwork is also a key part of our troupe, both on and off the stage. Tell us a little about your experience with the give-and-take of acting as part of a team, and your experiences (positive and negative) being part of groups.
5) We're looking to increase diversity reflected in the troupe, so we can perform for a wider range of audiences. Which race/ethnic group do you identify with? Please tell us a little about any other “identities” that are important to you (could be age, religion, sexual orientation, class, and others). How are they important to you?
6) We have a large ensemble company in part because our members live very busy lives. Our members have committed to making TST a priority so that they can participate in rehearsals and shows.
(a) Are you able to commit to attending the whole troupe rehearsals the first Sunday of each month (unless a major holiday weekend and then it's the 2nd Sunday) from 1-5pm plus an annual weekend retreat in July?
(b) What other commitments do you have that compete for your time/attention? (Please don't overlook naming major ones like parenting or caring for other dependents, erratic or demanding jobs.)
(c) Are you willing to do 1-2 hours/month of volunteer work (which could be done intensively helping a troupe development project once a year)?
(d) Would you be interested and available to perform 10-12+ times per year?
(e) Would you be willing to read and respond to emails for scheduling gigs noted as "timely" in the subject line within 48 hours (unless you are out of town)?
7) Do you support the mission of True Story Theater of promoting social healing through theater? How does it speak to you?
8) Anything else you want to ask us or want us to know?
